In July (click here to see the haul) I bought myself something I've wanted to try for a long time now, Urban Decay's All Nighter Setting Spray.
"Your make will last 16 hours! Perfect for all skin types, this ultra-fine mist hold make up for brides, dancers and ladies who just like lookin' GOOD.
In an exclusive partnership with SKINDINAVIA, we developed this groundbreaking hypoallergenic setting spray that keeps your make up on for 16 unbelievable hours. Legendary enough that it's already inspired imitations, All Nighter boasts a patent pending Temperature Cooling Technology that makes this weightless mist so powerful and sets it far above the competition. Your makeup won't melt when it's warm and humid or become dehydrated when it's cold and windy. Yes, it actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to hold foundation, eyeshadow, blush and concealer in place. The sprayer, unlike others on the market, delivers a micro-fine mist that distributes product evenly over the skin."

When deciding which Setting Spray to buy, it was quite the challenge. Although Dew Me (designed for dry skin) isn't suited to my combination/oily skin, both All Nighter and De Slick (designed to manage oil) sounded great for my skin. In the end I went with All Nighter, as I'm sure you can tell.
Given my skin type, I've always had trouble with the wear of foundation, even with a foundation primer. Although they're great in theory, I've struggled to find a primer that I felt extended the wear of my foundation, or provided me with good oil control.
Cue Urban Decay! The Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray is designed to prolong the wear of foundation and it does just that!
This foundation setting spray increases the wear of my foundation by a few hours. Not only does it wear for longer, I feel that the oil control means that I'm not having to reapply my powder as often throughout the day. This may change as we come into summer, however, so I might need to invest in De Slick!
I apply the foundation a number of times throughout my make up routine
- After applying foundation primer: To lock the primer in and set it into my skin
- After applying my foundation: To ensure my foundation, if nothing else, receives a mist of this product as it's what is most likely to wear off throughout the day
- After applying concealer, powder, blush and bronzer: To set all face products
- After eye and lip make up has been applied: To set the whole make up look and help it look more natural
I know this sounds like a lot of product but it sprays such a fine mist that it really doesn't matter. I find that each spritz of the product works well to set a different layer of my make up, ensuring that it wears for as long as possible.
Before I bought this product I watched a YouTube video about this product where it was said that the Urban Decay/Skindinavia Setting Sprays are developed to be applied much as I apply mine; before foundation application, throughout the process and afterwards. Although I really like applying it as I do, sometimes I forget to apply it after I've finished putting my make up on. Forgetting doesn't necessarily make it wear less, I just think it lasts longer with it.
Not only does this product make my make up last a lot longer, but it also helps it sit better on my skin and, therefore, look more natural. I find that the last mist of Urban Decay All Nighter, sprayed after I have finished applying all my make up, helps everything to look more unified and 'sink' into the skin better. I'm struggling to find the words to explain exactly what I mean by that, but I hope you understand.
All in all, I really like this product and, although I have combination/oily skin, I definitely plan on repurchasing this when it runs out. I would recommend the Urban Decay Setting Sprays to everyone who wears make up, especially those who struggle to keep their make up on all day. When I reach my next shopping goal I will be purchasing the De Slick spray from BeautyBay to compare. Stay tuned!
I bought my Urban Decay Setting Spray from BeautyBay.com and paid $30.20AUD for 118mL. I've had this product for a month and a half and I feel like I'm about a third of the way through (possibly a bit more or less).
What do you think of this product? How do you help to prolong the wear of your make up?
