Mask Proof Your "Foundation"/Base - Quick Tip

Morning Sun by Melody Gardot

This tip/trick I bring to you today comes from the beautiful Vera - she does videos about makeup, clothing reviews, as well as Aliexpress hauls, etc. (that's how I found her channel - definitely check it out!).  In her video, she recommends SHEIN concealer and says that it is the only transfer-proof makeup that she has found in her collection to not transfer on her masks. If you're in the market for a concealer that's great because it's very inexpensive - £2.49 (currently on a sale price for £1.49).

However, if you're like me and have a bucket load of few liquid concealers at hand and don't necessarily trust the shade offerings that Shein has to offer (Ginger is the darkest shade) + don't want to spend £35 for free shipping (standard shipping is £4.99) - have no fear because more than likely any liquid-based matte concealer will do. Yet, if you really want to try the "Shein formula"- KIMUSE foundation shares the exact same ingredients list and even have the same colour names + more shades, with free shipping on all orders - so I'm pretty sure if a generic private-labelled concealer works - the one in you already have in your own makeup bag, will work too.

Shein Ingredients: Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer, Ethylhexyl Palmitate,isododecane,mica,silica,cetyl Ethylhexanoate,propyl Benzoate,methyl,ci 77491,ci 77492,ci 77891,ci 77499 Benzoate,beeswax,microcrystalline Wax.

So what's the trick? Instead of using a normal foundation as your base, use your liquid concealer instead. Apply the majority around your eyes/where you would like to conceal the most, and blend it out with a sponge/brush/clean fingers. Allow it to dry, and then set with your face powder of choice, and that's it. Super simple, and most of all the concealers I already had worked for me. So, I didn't have to spend any money to find - the "holy grail non-transfer proof foundation". This is a perfect way to still wear makeup without walking around with a messy/dirty looking mask.

It's early days, and I've only tried it out with Revolution Conceal + Define, and it worked so my next go-to will be e.l.f's 16 hr Camo Concealer. I mainly wear cloth masks (helps the environment and it's cost-effective - I bought the one shown here from HiddenGemShopUK) so it's less likely to show marks but, even with other types of concealers (cream) and foundations, I've seen smears on the inside but, with this concealer method, there were none! It works!
