CHANEL JOUES CONTRASTE IN 'JERSEY' (80)

Jersey (80) is one of two new, limited edition Chanel Joues Contraste/powder blushes released alongside their new Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation (SPF 15) with Mini Kabuki Brush (review coming), and a newly repackaged Le Blanc de Chanel Illuminating Base (my current, all-time fave reviewed HERE) that is taller and slimmer and most importantly, now comes with a convenient pump!  The other blush is called Rose Glacier (170) (review HERE).

COLOUR, PIGMENTATION & FINISH
I'd describe Jersey as a soft, rosy brown with ultra fine gold and rose shimmers.  Very natural looking against my medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.  Exactly how my cheeks would look after I've spent some time out in the summer sun.  Jersey has decent colour pay-off that can easily be built up in a couple of layers or two depending on how intense you like your blush, or if you have deeper skin tone.  It gives a subtle sheen (not frost) finish to the cheeks with very fine shimmers that can only be seen up close.  The shimmers do not emphasise any large pores.

SWATCHES
Below is a heavy swatch of Jersey (left) and how it looks with normal application and blended out (right).  For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.  Unless otherwise stated, they are photographed indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe.

COMPARISON SWATCHES
Below are comparison swatches of Jersey to other similar shades in my collection - including Nars Douceur (this is probably the closest in colour as they both have a hint of rose, but it is slightly darker and a touch more brown), Rouge Bunny Rouge's Habanera (reviewed HERE) and Nars Luster.  The latter two are warmer and more orange.  Nars Luster is more of an apricot.  Nars Douceur and Chanel Jersey are more muted in colour.
FORMULA, TEXTURE & APPLICATION
Unlike the European baked powder formula of the other newly released Chanel Joues Contraste in 'Rose Glacier' (reviewed HERE), Jersey comes in the pressed powder version usually released in the USA.  That's 6 grams of product compared to 4 g in the baked form!  Generally, the pressed formula are softer, finely milled and not as dry as baked formulas.  They can sometimes be powdery, but I found that Jersey's did not really kick up any powder.  Note, the bristles of the brush provided is quite thick and coarse, so you only need to pat/swirl the brush on the powder gently and it will pick up enough product at a time easily.   Alternatively, you may use a softer, finer brush.  (The brush provided really works better with baked powders).  The texture is smooth so it applies and blends easily on the skin.

LONGEVITY
I tried wearing Jersey on top of the new Chanel Vitalumière Loose Powder Foundation (SPF 15) [review coming] without any primer underneath and the blush lasted only 4-5 hours before it pretty much all disappeared.  So, I highly recommend applying a primer to prolong its longevity.  I suspect it would last twice as long on top of primer like I have found with Chanel Joues Contraste in 'Rose Glacier' (reviewed HERE).  For reference, I currently have normal to dry skin.  I also walked the dog during a sunny, spring day I wore the blush, and did enough housework to work up a bit of a sweat.

PACKAGING
The blush compact has a handy mirror and a useable brush applicator with natural bristles.
The blush compact in the signature Chanel black lacquer with a black velvet pouch.
Above: Product description label at the bottom of the compact.

SCENT
Like all Joues Contraste / powder blushes, it has that signature, rose-type scent, which isn't noticeable to me once applied on the cheeks.

SIZE
6 g / 0.21 oz (compared to 4 g in the European baked powders).

OVERALL
If you love natural, neutral blushes and don't have one like it then Jersey is worth checking out.  Although I personally don't use neutral blushes as often, it is very versatile shade and a good one to use if you want a very natural-looking, minimal makeup, or to balance your overall look with an intense smokey eye, bold eye shadow colours or bold, bright lips.

AVAILABILITY
Available now in Australia.  Limited edition, so hurry!  I purchased mine from the Chanel Makeup Studio, Myer Sydney City.

Hope this was helpful. :)

Thanks for stopping by! ^_^ xo
